We're Hiring - Project Job Planning & Estimator Workstations

Sandringham, VIC (Zenith Manufacturing Facility)

A fantastic opportunity exists for a customer service focused person to join the planning and estimating team.  This position is a huge opportunity to join a leading manufacturer and marketer of commercial furniture (workstation products and other commercial furniture products) through to major corporate and government clients. You will be working in a fast paced, pressured environment within a team structure.

Position:

The work would suit a customer service focussed person with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Converting quotations to work instructions for manufacture. Sales estimating to win work, processing of sales orders and would be some of the daily tasks. Excellent communication and problem solving skills required; along with the capability to organise, schedule and prioritise.

Reporting Relationship:

Reporting directly to the Team Leader – Customer Service

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • To plan and configure the manufacture of workstation systems and associated accessories/products
  • To produce configured job cards to achieve production plans to achieve competitive lead times and maximise productivity
  • To plan the projects for production
  • Report to Team Leader - Customer Service with project issues and timing issues that my result in any difficulty in meeting client expectations
  • Ability to understand and edit bills of materials
  • To estimate workstation configurations to win work
  • Pre optimise all materials to maximise yields from actual manufacturing usage such as cutting optimisation per substrate dimension
  • Identify possible supplier engagement opportunities to provide improved pricing option based on alternative materials, volume breaks, historical spend and unit of measure opportunities – such as roll / sheet material supply
  • Review with Team Leader - Customer Service opportunities for improvement such as new potential supply lines, make buy options to optimise costings and lead-times
  • Ensure positive customer relationships are maintained with all sales offices to proactively engage in business growth opportunities
  • Resolve and when required escalate any service issues raised that could impact customers. Eg Supplier bottlenecks impacting material availability or manufacturing fulfilment
  • Raising purchase orders and variations within Pronto management system
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and manufacturing operations
  • Maintain project files in accordance with company procedures
  • Promote a positive culture
  • Facilitate the achievement of company’s corporate goals, vision and values
  • Actively support company policies and procedures
  • Any other work as directed from time to time by the Customer Service Mgr. and Team Leader

Attributes & Experience:

  • Requires a customer service focus
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Understands the importance of estimating plays in “winning work”
  • A keen analytical mind to resolve workstation configurations
  • The ability to communicate effectively
  • May have acquired skills through a customer service environment; or previous experience in production administration or planning and activities of a similar nature
  • Requires estimating and planning ability
  • Requires PC (MS Office) skills. Some exposure and understanding of IT systems in production such as Pronto, ERP, etc are relevant but not mandatory
  • Inventory and purchasing management skills
  • May hold trade or certificate qualifications or other relevant diploma or degree qualifications but not mandatory
  • Knowledge in bills of material configuration and CAD drawing skills would be advantage but not mandatory
