A family of stackable chairs, armchairs and stools that marry two extremely different materials, polypropylene and wood. Versatile and light, SEELA’s distinctive feature is an insert that follows and perfectly integrates with the sinuous shapes of the frame. SEELA showcases a polypropylene or upholstered shell with seat pad in polypropylene, wood or matching fabric, which is easily removable and replaceable. Available in 4-leg, sled base, wooden leg, 5-Star or 4-Star castors, SEELA is ideal for any commercial or hospitality environments. SEELA in sled base and 4-leg is stackable up to 8 high. Optional tablet, linking glides, stacking pads, bicolour upholstery and fireproof plastic. SEELA is also available in a stackable stool, up to 6 high, with integrated footrest in two fixed heights.
Design Office Antti Kotilainen was founded 1997 in Helsinki. Specialising in furniture design his studio also provides product design as well as complete visual concepts ranging from graphic to spatial design.
Characteristic for Kotilainen's design work is organic functionalism set to meet contemporary qualifications. Behind his work is a drive to refine technical issues and details - of the manufacturing process and the applicability alike - into aesthetics of the final product. His aim is to compose designs that look as effortless as they look essential.
In the best Scandinavian tradition Kotilainen has explored new ways to work with wood in numerous of his furniture designs. Since the year 1993 he has collaborated with several Scandinavian furniture manufacturers for example Martela, Piiroinen and also with Knoll from United States and Arper from Italy.
Kotilainen's furniture has been widely recognised and his work has been displayed in several Finnish and international expositions. His furniture has been utilised in furnishing public spaces in various companies, universities and cultural sites in numerous European countries, US, Australia and Japan.
