Founder and Design Director of Yellow Diva
Furniture & Product Designer
David Walley's recent work explores the concept of progression, lineage and evolution. After a long sojourn in Britain, Davids return to his native Melbourne provided impetus for a shift in focus and is enjoying a period of productive independence in Australia.
An industrial design graduate (RMIT), David went on to work in film and television as Art Director and Production Designer in Australia and Europe. The film industry afforded enormous creative freedom and exposure to a multitude of skills, places and personalities. These influences still bring a refreshing bearing on David's approach to design today.
Yellow Diva designs and manufactures engaging original furniture and products.
The design studio was born in London, the collaboration between David Walley, an Australian industrial designer and James Davis, a British architect. Yellow Diva - an almost anagram of their surnames - was established in 1994 and within a year they launched their first series of organic, sculptural furniture at the inaugural 100% Design, Chelsea.
The studio relocated to Melbourne in 2008 presenting an expanded portfolio of furniture and products. A Limited Edition range allows for experimentation alongside more commercially focused projects.
